5 Peaks - Canmore Nordic Center #1
5 Peaks at Canmore Nordic Centre
This event takes place at the Canmore Nordic Centre, which hosted the nordic and biathlon events of the 1988 Winter Olympics. It is part of the 5 Peaks Trail Running series and uses the Centre's network of singletrack and double track trails.
Distances offered:
- Kids - 1 km
- Kids - 3 km
- Sport - 7.1 km
- Enduro - 16.1 km
- Grit - 22 km
The course includes steep climbs, technical sections and flowy singletrack, and loops through lower and upper trail sections. The start and finish are located near the main stadium area and course routing allows opportunities to see other runners on the loops.
Practical information: the event is cup free. Water and electrolyte drink are available at the start and finish and at one or more aid stations on course. Participants expecting to be on course longer than one hour should carry a container for liquids and nutrition. For safety, sport, enduro and grit participants are required to carry bear spray; children in the 1 km and 3 km events are not required to carry bear spray and additional volunteers will carry spray on those courses.
Parking at the venue is limited and a Kananaskis Pass is required for parking at the Centre. A shuttle is available from the Canmore Recreation Centre with pre-purchased passes; shuttle riders do not require a Kananaskis Pass. Finisher medals and event merchandise are not included with individual registration but can be pre-purchased or bought on site while supplies last. Awards are presented after results are compiled and must be picked up at the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
