Event overview

Canmore #1 is a trail running event held at the Canmore Nordic Centre on June 6th. The venue features a trail network of singletrack and double track with panoramic views of the Canadian Rockies. The start and finish area is located at the main stadium and includes on-site amenities and a DJ. Washroom facilities are available at the start/finish area. Spectators are welcome. Parking is available in the main and overflow lots near the Day Lodge; a Kananaskis Pass is required for the day.

Course and safety

The course includes hard hill climbs, technical and flowy singletrack, and significant elevation gain. For safety, the event prohibits dogs, headphones, strollers or baby joggers, and nordic walking poles on course. Sport, Enduro, and Grit participants are required to carry bear spray; children in the 1 km and 3 km events are not required to carry bear spray, and additional volunteers will assist on those courses.

Logistics and awards

The event is cup-free; water and electrolyte drink are supplied at the start/finish and at one or more aid stations. Participants expecting to be out longer than an hour should carry their own receptacle. All finishers in Sport, Enduro, and Grit receive a finisher swag item. Wooden finisher medals made in Canada are available; awards are given to top finishers by gender and age and must be picked up at the event.
