This event is part of the 5 Peaks Trail Running series in Central Alberta and takes place at the Canmore Nordic Centre, host of the nordic and biathlon events at the 1988 Winter Olympics. The venue features an extensive summer trail network of singletrack and doubletrack used by hikers runners and mountain bikers.

Offered distances include:

  • Grit 19.3 km Run

Courses include significant climbs technical and flowy singletrack sections and notable elevation gain. Routes loop through lower and upper trail sections and return to the start and finish area located in the main stadium with mountain views and event audio in the venue area.

Logistics noted: packet pickup is available at a local running shop and at the Canmore Nordic Centre, washroom facilities are provided at the start and finish area, and parking is available in main and overflow lots near the Day Lodge. A Kananaskis Pass is required for the day. Race distances and maps may change based on trail conditions.

Safety and equipment: sport enduro and grit participants are required to carry bear spray; children in the 1 km and 3 km events are not required to carry bear spray and additional volunteers will carry it on those courses.

Trail runs nearby

A sunset trail run in Canmore on May 16, 2026 offering 5K and 10K routes with chip timing and on-course hydration refills. Finish-line drinks and a Crave cupcake are included and a portion of registrations supports Heart Mountain Rescue.

Trail races at the Canmore Nordic Centre use an extensive network of singletrack and double track with mountain views. Distances range from 1 km kids races to a 22 km Grit course; bear spray is required for some races.

The Canmore Revolver is a five hour AMLAP running event on a 6 km loop at the Canmore Nordic Centre on June 27, 2026. Solo runners or teams of two or three compete, with a finish line social featuring poutine and CR*FT drinks.

Relentless24 is a 24 hour endurance run at the Canmore Nordic Centre that offers solo and team entries on single-track and double-track trails. The event includes a pacer policy and tiered registration fees.
