Trail races at Kielder Castle in Northumberland offering distances from 5 km to 52 km across forest trails. Camping is available, outposts provide food and drinks, and mandatory kit and cut-offs apply for the longer routes.

A roughly 17 km out and back fell race across Upper Teesdale with about 560 m of ascent, starting and finishing in Holwick. The route is unmarked and suited to runners with fell experience and navigation skills.

A 50 km fell running event around the Cheviot Hills near Wooler on 19 September 2026. GPS navigation is required and there is an 11 hour time limit; aid stations, marshals and medical cover are provided.

Traverse 63 miles of the beautiful Cleveland Coast on this linear ultramarathon from Guisborough to Filey. Runners follow the cliff tops through iconic fishing villages with 18 hours to complete the course.

Test your endurance at West Shields Farm by completing a 4.1 mile loop every hour until only one runner remains. This backyard ultra features trail and woodland tracks with team and solo categories.

October 2026

A 13.5 mile trail half marathon from Housesteads Roman Fort to Tyne Green Country Park in Hexham. Walkers take part one day and runners the next, with shuttle transport to the start, chip timing and support for Heel and Toe Children's Chari..

Trail run along the River Wear in Durham with a 7-hour time challenge and distances from 3 km to ultra, Scare Bear themed medals, aid tables with vegan options, and on-site facilities.

A trail event in Shotley Bridge, County Durham offering 25 km and 53 km routes across moorland, woodland and reservoir views. The 53 km includes mandatory kit requirements, feed stations and live chip timing.

Trail Outlaws stages Dark Skies Run @ Wooler in Northumberland with fully marked trails, stocked check points and options for a Trail 10k or a Half Marathon. Entry fees shown range from £25 to £36.

November 2026

Tommy Runs takes place on the Seaham seafront around the Tommy War Memorial Statue with timed 5 km and 10 km courses on road, promenade and coastal trails. A one minute silence is observed before each race.

A three hour team endurance event at Charlton Hall Estate, Alnwick on 7 November 2026. Teams of five with at least two female members rotate between BikeErg and running while the event includes live DJs, food, drink and a festival atmospher..

Trail races at Slaley Hall in November 2026 include a 10km lap of the estate and a half marathon through Slaley Forest. The event features live chip timing, finishers' medals, on-site parking, and a canicross option.

December 2026

A winter ultra from Ingram Village Hall across the Cheviot hills of about 55 miles, organized by Cold Brew Events with GPS tracking and a 24 hour time limit. Licensed by the Trail Running Association.

A 20 km fell race on Gisborough Moors in the North York Moors on Sun 6 Dec 2026, with 850 m of climb. Entry is available by pre-entry and on the day; teams are allowed and the race forms part of the North East Fell Running Champs.

A festive 2.5 km or 5.0 km trail run along the River Wear near Durham Cathedral, with themed medals, a goody bag, aid stations and facilities at Durham Amateur Rowing Club.
