Trail Running calendar near Cape Clear Island 2026-2027

Run rugged coastal trails on the Iveragh Peninsula with sweeping views of the Atlantic and the Skelligs. Choose from a two day 130 km ultra, 43 km and 25 km races plus a kids run on May 2 to 3 2026.

A fully marked 161 km mountain ultra in Beara, County Cork, with 5,500 m of climb, multiple manned aid stations and four drop bag locations. Entry is limited and the race carries a 37-hour limit.

A 70 km mountain ultra around Beara with 2292 m ascent, running from and back to Castletownbere via Eyeries and Mish Kish, requiring Level C mandatory kit, staffed aid stations and limited personal drop bags.

A 23.5 km mountain half marathon in County Cork on 16 May 2026 with 1,100 m of ascent and a fully marked coastal route along the Beara Way. Mandatory Level B kit and water are required.

Experience a challenging mountain race in County Kerry featuring a 9.6 km route with 700 meters of climbing. Runners navigate rough open mountain terrain as part of the Munster Championship league.

June 2026

A community run in Farran Woods supporting Farran National School, featuring a chip timed 5 km and a 2 km children’s run with refreshments afterwards.

August 2026

Experience a unique trail run on Ireland's southernmost inhabited island in West Cork. Choose between a 10km or Half Marathon route featuring scenic hiking trails and views of the Fastnet Rock Lighthouse.

September 2026

A 200 km ultraaround the Iveragh Peninsula with registration at Killarney Racecourse, limited entries and mandatory safety gear. The route includes designated crew stops and requires prior endurance qualifications.

Tackle the extreme Carrauntoohil mountain run in Kerry, with over 1,100m of ascent on a 13.7km unmarked route. Mandatory advanced kit is required, and GPS is allowed. Registration opens in late August for the September event.

May 2027
