Bury St Edmunds, United Kingdom • 16 Jan 2027

Windmill Way Wander

Windmill Way Wander is held at the Suffolk Running Centre, Church Road, Bury St Edmunds, IP29 5AX. The event offers multiple road distance choices and is organised around a central Race HQ and lap point where the main water and aid station is located.

Distances available:

  • 5k
  • 10k
  • Half marathon
  • Full marathon
  • Ultra marathon

The course uses the Windmill Way route and Golding Hills and runs entirely on road. Runners pass through the villages of Higham, Gazeley, Ashley, Dalham and Denham. The event is named for the windmill at Dalham and the route includes views of Dalham Hall to the left before that point.

Those choosing distances under a half marathon use an out-and-back with a required turnaround. The half marathon is a single loop and the full marathon is two loops. The ultra reaches the 5k turnaround point before continuing. A seven-hour cut-off applies; a shorter five-hour cut-off also applies for some entries.

There are aid stations providing drinks and small snacks approximately every 10k. Parking is included in the entry price. The route has rolling hills with total elevation around 600 ft. The event is cupless, so participants should bring their own bottles or cups. Bespoke finisher medals are provided, with a lucky dip finisher medal option when available. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
