Valley of the Owls Run

The Valley of the Owls Run takes place in Suffolk, utilizing a course that passes through the village of Ousden. The area is recognized for its historic roads and rural scenery. The event headquarters is located at the Suffolk Running Centre in Bury St Edmunds.

Participants can choose from several distance options:

  • 5 km
  • 10 km
  • Half Marathon
  • Marathon
  • Ultra

The course layout varies by distance. Participants in the 5 km and 10 km categories follow the Goldings Hills Route, which is designed as an out-and-back path. The Half Marathon utilizes the Dalham Kiln route, consisting of a single loop. Those completing the Marathon perform two loops of this route, while Ultra runners complete two loops plus an additional segment to the 5 km turnaround point. The terrain is described as undulating and multi-terrain.

A central aid station at the base camp provides water and snacks, with additional stations positioned every 10 km. This is a cupless event, requiring participants to bring their own bottles or containers for refilling. The event has a maximum time limit of seven hours for the mass start. Finishers receive either a bespoke event medal or a medal from a previous event, depending on the entry type selected. Parking is provided at the venue and is included in the registration fee.
