The Lucky Horseshoe

The Lucky Horseshoe is a running event held at the Suffolk Running Centre in Bury St Edmunds. The event operates with a seven-hour cutoff time and features a variety of distance options. Participants can choose between several distances based on their preference:

• 5k
• 10k
• Half Marathon
• Full Marathon
• Ultra Marathon

The course follows an out-and-back format utilizing the Gallops Route. For those participating in distances greater than a half marathon, the route passes through Newmarket toward the Gallops, where race horses are often seen in training. The full marathon consists of one complete out-and-back loop, while shorter distances use specific turnaround points. Participants in the ultra marathon complete the full marathon course before heading back out to a secondary turnaround point.

Race Headquarters, also known as Base Camp, is situated at the start and lap point. An aid station providing drinks and snacks is available at Race HQ and every 10k along the route. The event is cupless, requiring runners to bring their own bottles or cups for refilling. Finishers receive a bespoke medal or may select the lucky dip option to receive a medal from a previous event. Parking at the venue is included in the entry price.
