Thetford Festival of Running
Thetford Festival of Running is organised by Zig Zag Running at High Lodge, Thetford Forest, Brandon, IP27 0AF. The event returns for a second year and uses a self-contained area of the forest with exclusive use of the main area.
Distances available include:
- 5k
- 10k
- Half Marathon
- Full Marathon
- Ultra Marathon
The route is based on a 5 km loop within the grounds of Thetford Forest. The course will be mainly pathway with a small section of trails and woodland; the final route is to be confirmed. A water aid station will be located at the lap point. The heavy half marathon is set as 5 laps by default with the option to change to 6 or 7 laps on the day. The ultra marathon is set as 9 laps by default with the option to increase the number of laps up to a time-dependent maximum.
Event notes and facilities are provided from a base adjacent to Oak Lodge, which is used for registration and for post-run tea, coffee and cake. Parking on the day is discounted to £5 for participants with a QR code. The event is cupless so participants should bring cups or bottles for refill. Twenty percent of each entry fee is allocated to the upkeep and care of the forest. Entries close 48 hours before the event. There are multi-hour event cutoffs in place.
