Zig Zag Marathon and Half

The Zig Zag Marathon and Half Marathon takes place at the Suffolk Running Centre in Bury St Edmunds. The event utilizes scenic, officially measured road routes that are mildly undulating. Participants can choose between two main distances:

  • Full Marathon
  • Half Marathon

The marathon follows the Kirtling Route, while the half marathon consists of a single loop on the Windmill Route. Both courses are held on quiet public roads, and participants are advised to wear bright clothing as the roads remain open to traffic. The event is designated as a cupless race, requiring runners to bring their own bottles or cups for refilling at the aid stations.

Aid stations providing drinks and snacks are located every 10 km, with a central water station at the Race HQ base camp. The event has a seven-hour cut-off time. For safety reasons, only bone conductor headphones are permitted during the race.

Participants receive a medal upon completion, with options for a bespoke event medal or a "lucky dip" medal from previous events. The entry price includes on-site parking at the venue. This event is noted as suitable for those attempting to achieve a marathon Good For Age (GFA) qualifying time. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
