Event overview
The Zig Zag Challenge is a timed running event at Brandon Country Park, IP27 0SU, in the heart of Thetford Forest. Entries are limited to 100 and the minimum age is 18. There are two timed options: a six hour option or a four hour option. The course is a multi-terrain lap of 5.3k, mainly gravel footpaths with some grass sections. An aid station is available at the Race HQ / Base Camp each lap. Participants may complete multiple laps and rest between laps.
Common target distances for lap counts:
- Heavy half marathon - 5 laps (option to change to 6 or 7)
- Full marathon - standard marathon distance via lap accumulation
- Ultra-marathon - 9 laps standard (options to increase, up to 12)
Logistics and facilities
Race HQ and the lap point contain the water/aid station. Baggage can be left at a designated area but is left at the runner’s own risk. The event is cupless; participants should bring their own bottle or cup for refilling. Road trainers are suggested, with trail shoes optional depending on recent weather.
Parking at Brandon Country Park is chargeable and marshals will direct parking on the day. Brandon Railway Station is 1.5 miles (2.4 km) from the park. A bespoke event medal is provided at the finish unless a Lucky Dip finisher medal option is chosen. Virtual entries are available for remote participation. Entries close 28/03/2026.
