Zanfel Orienteering Race # 2

Zanfel Orienteering Race # 2 takes place April 18, 2026 at Conestoga Lake, 9799 West Pioneers Blvd., Denton, NE 68516, at the east entrance by the dam. The event distance is 15 Miles and the course runs on trails and through brush around the lake. The start and finish are at the east parking lot where kayaks and paddleboards will be staged.

Entries may be Solo or teams of two or three people in male, female, and coed categories. Teams check in together and will run and use a single kayak or paddleboard per team; teams decide who paddles and may switch at any point. While paddling a life jacket must be worn and failure to wear one while on the water leads to disqualification.

CalTopo pre plotted maps, instructions, and punch cards are distributed at check in. Maps and basic assistance are available for participants new to orienteering. The event has a 3 hour cutoff.

Registration opens December 12, 2025 and closes April 3, 2026. The registration fee is $40 per person and includes shirts, awards, snacks, and drinks. A park day pass can be purchased separately. Required gear includes a large zip lock bag for maps and race material, life jacket, cell phone, water, snacks, sunscreen, and tick spray.
