The Zanfel Orienteering Race # 3 takes place at the south end of the Lake Area within Waubonsie Park in Hamburg, Iowa. This event serves as the final race in the current series. Participants engage in a format that involves running or hiking while utilizing maps and specific instructions to locate various checkpoints throughout the park environment.

The event features a single distance:

Participants can register for several divisions, including solo entries or teams of two to three people in coed, men's, or women's categories. The event is self-supported, and participants are encouraged to bring map cases, cell phones, and small packs for carrying water and snacks. Maps, punch cards, and instructions are provided during the check-in process.

The course has a designated cut-off time of four hours. Registration includes a shirt, a medal, drinks, and snacks for all participants. While the park requires permits for entry, these are available at the park entrance. Those unfamiliar with map reading can receive assistance during the check-in period.
