Yellow Belly Backyard Ultra
The Yellow Belly Backyard Ultra is an endurance event held at Chalk Farm, Salters Lane, Wyham, Louth, Lincolnshire DN36 5RS. The format uses a single loop of exactly 4.167 miles that participants must complete within each hour. A bell sounds on the hour and runners must be in the start pen at that moment to continue. The event continues until only one runner completes a solo lap; all other competitors are recorded as did not finish. Entry is limited to 100 runners and the entry fee is £74.
The route is 100% off road, running through undulating arable farmland and rugged trails on the Lincolnshire Wolds. The course passes through the grounds of Wyham, a deserted medieval village recorded in the Domesday Book of 1066. Each loop contains about 120 meters of elevation gain.
Race headquarters at the start and finish is the only checkpoint. Facilities at HQ include camping space, campervan pitches by arrangement, basic aid with hot and cold water for crews and simple snacks, and toilets. Support crews are permitted. GPX files are provided for OS Maps and Garmin devices. Registration is available on the evening before the event and on the morning of the event.
Mandatory kit includes suitable trail running footwear, a seamed waterproof jacket, an insulated layer for rest periods, a head torch with spare batteries, and hat, gloves, and buff. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
