Yellow Belly Backyard Ultra
The Yellow Belly Backyard Ultra is a last-person-standing loop race held in the Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, at Chalk Farm, Salters Lane, Wyham, Louth, Lincolnshire DN36 5RS. The event is scheduled for 22 May 2027 and is limited to 100 runners.
The format requires competitors to complete an exact loop of 4.167 miles each hour. A bell sounds on the hour; runners must be in the starting pen when the bell rings and must complete the loop within the hour. Any remaining time after a lap may be used for rest, eating, kit changes, or other preparation. The race continues until only one runner completes a solo lap; that runner is the winner and all other competitors record a Did Not Finish.
The course is 100% off-road, passing through undulating arable farmland and rugged trails and running through the grounds of Wyham, a deserted medieval village recorded in the Domesday Book of 1066. Each loop includes over 120 meters of elevation.
Race headquarters at the start/finish is the only checkpoint. Camping space is available at the start/finish and campervan pitches can be pre-arranged. Support crews are permitted. An aid station will provide hot and cold water for crews and basic sweet and savory snacks; competitors are advised to bring the specific nutrition they have trained with. Toilets are available onsite. GPX files are provided for OS Maps and Garmin devices. Mandatory kit includes suitable trail shoes, a seamed waterproof jacket, an insulated layer, a head torch with spare batteries, hat, gloves, and a buff. Entry fee is £74 and there is no cut-off time.
