XTERRA World Championship, Ruidoso NM (Oct 8–11, 2026)
The XTERRA World Championship is a multiday off-road sports event held in Ruidoso, New Mexico, centered at Grindstone Lake Park with festival activities at Wingfield Park. The event spans Elite, Age Group, and Youth divisions and lists more than 1,000 athletes from over 55 countries. The elite prize purse is stated as $100,000.
Races include off-road triathlon formats and a trail run. Course grading is published as Easy, Intermediate, and Difficult. Practice access to bike and run courses is available in the days leading up to race competition and the program includes community rides, community runs, yoga sessions, an expo with a bike mechanic, athlete check-in, and awards and welcome ceremonies.

- Full Distance Triathlon: SWIM 1.5K, BIKE 27K, RUN 10K
- Sprint Triathlon: SWIM 750M, BIKE 14K, RUN 6K
- Open Sprint Triathlon: SWIM 750M, BIKE 14K, RUN 6K
- Super Sprint Triathlon: SWIM 400M, BIKE 7K, RUN 3K
- Trail Run: 5K
Operational details note parking and shuttle arrangements for Grindstone Lake and Wingfield Park, accessible handicap parking, and volunteer roles that include course marshals and aid station support. Multisport athletes are required to hold a USA Triathlon license or a one-event Bronze membership. Refund rules include a partial refund option of US$110 for the full triathlon if requested on or before August 31, 2026; no refunds on or after September 1, 2026.
