The event takes place in Capitan, New Mexico and includes three race formats: a 34-hour event, the Hotfoot Teddy 12-hour, and the Rabbit 6-hour. Registration opens on November 1, 2025 for these events. The 34-hour format offers multiple distance options and awards:
- 100 miles - buckle
- 80 miles - special Smokey 80th birthday buckle
- 25K and other distances - finisher medals
Distances start at 25K and above.
Course and logistics
The course uses soft, runnable 4-mile loops with a central aid station and headquarters. The event permits crew support and has a crew-optional design. A food truck is provided with registration, offering lunch, dinner, and midnight snacks for 34-hour participants. Pacers are allowed during overnight hours. Packet pickup is held at Rob Jaggar Campground, which is also the start and finish area. Camping is available at the start/finish under BLM rules, with some RV water hookups.
