Ruidoso Grindstone Trail Runs

The Ruidoso Grindstone Trail Runs is an annual trail running event held at Wingfield Park in downtown Ruidoso, New Mexico (300 Center Street, altitude ~6,900 ft). The event offers multiple course options that start and finish at Wingfield Park and use marked trails with directional signs at each intersection.

Distances:

  • 13.8 miles (Heavy Half Marathon)
  • 8.5 miles
  • 4 miles
  • Kids Dash (one loop around Wingfield Park)

Course notes and services include cupless operation with refill stations at Wingfield Park and additional refill points on the half and 8.5-mile courses, course signage at junctions, and refreshments and fruit at the finish. The half marathon includes significant hills and technical downhills and has a race cutoff after which on-course support is not provided. The 4-mile course is partly paved and partly trail; walkers are welcomed on that distance.

All participants receive a commemorative finisher medal, a custom shirt, a custom race bib, and complimentary professional race photos. Post-race amenities listed include showers at the local athletic club and discounts from a local brewery that hosts a post-race gathering. Entry is by paid registration with variable pricing periods. Event rules prohibit pets, strollers, and e-bikes on the trails. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
