Cloudcroft Ultra 53K

The Cloudcroft Ultra is a multi-distance trail event held at Zenith Park Pavilion in Cloudcroft, New Mexico, situated in the Sacramento Mountains at about 8,600 feet elevation. Races use the historic Rim Trail (T105), an out-and-back single-track and former rail bed that passes stands of fir, pine and quaking aspen and offers views down to the Tularosa Basin.

The 53K course adds a lollipop loop at the turnaround to provide additional climbing and summit-side scenery. The 53K includes six aid stations stocked with water, sport drink, gels and snacks; drop bags are permitted at two locations near mile ~13 and mile ~20. The 9.5 mile distance has two aid stations. Crew access for the 53K is available at Aid Stations 1/6 and 3/4 with posted directions for vehicle approach.

All distances use chip timing. Packet pickup takes place at the Pavilion in Zenith Park on the Friday before the race and on race morning. Awards are handed out as participants finish for the 53K, 9.5 mile and Kid’s Dash; the 4.75 mile has no formal ceremony this year. The event is organized by Wanderlust Running and is the second race in the Sacramento Mountains Ultra Series. Registration is non refundable and shirt size guarantees require earlier registration.
