Cloudcroft Ultra 53K and shorter races
The Cloudcroft Ultra is a set of mountain trail races held in Cloudcroft, New Mexico, centered at the Pavilion in Zenith Park (elevation about 8,600 feet). Courses use the Rim Trail (T105), a historic rail‑bed and single‑track that passes through fir, pine and quaking aspen and offers views down to the Tularosa Basin. The 53K is an out‑and‑back with an added lollipop loop near the summit; the 9.5 mile and 4.75 mile courses are out‑and‑back on the same trail. A 1 mile Kid's Dash loops around Zenith Park for ages 13 and under.
Race services for the 53K include six aid stations stocked with water, sport drink, gels and snacks, plus two drop‑bag locations (approximately mile 13 and mile 20). The 9.5 mile course has two aid stations. Chip timing is used for all distances. Crew access is permitted at Aid Stations 1/6 and 3/4; Aid 1/6 is near mile marker 1 on Sunspot Highway and Aid 3/4 is reached via Alamo Peak Road, a one‑lane road where drivers should proceed slowly.
The event is the second race in the Sacramento Mountains Ultra Series. All finishers receive a custom shirt and a finisher medal. Registration is non‑refundable; guaranteed shirt sizes require earlier registration. Entry fees vary by distance and registration date.
