Cactus to Cloud Sky Race
The Cactus to Cloud Sky Race takes place October 17–18, 2026 in Cloudcroft, New Mexico, and is organized by Wanderlust Running. The event includes a long-distance sky run and a shorter mountain run, both on trails that ascend from the Tularosa Basin into the Sacramento Mountains.
Distances offered:
- Sky Race 50K - point to point ultra starting at Oliver Lee State Park
- Cloud Run 32K - starts at Sunspot visitor center
The event is part of the Sacramento Mountains Ultra Series and is based out of Cloudcroft, at roughly 8,676 feet elevation. Courses use high-elevation single-track and historic rail-bed trails, moving from desert ecosystems toward fir and spruce forests and higher ridges.
Logistics noted by the organizer include shuttle service that picks up at the start/finish pavilion to transport runners to each race start.
