Cactus to Cloud Sky Race

Cactus to Cloud Sky Race is a point-to-point ultra trail event based out of Cloudcroft, New Mexico. It is the third event in the Sacramento Mountains Ultra Series and moves from desert ecosystems into high-elevation forest above the Tularosa Basin. Cloudcroft sits at about 8,676 ft and the series is set among fir and spruce trees, single-track trails, and historic rail-bed routes.

Race distances include:

  • Sky Run 50K start at Oliver Lee State Park, Alamogordo
  • Cloud Run 32K start at Sunspot Visitor Center

The courses travel from lower desert terrain up into the Sacramento Mountains, offering varied scenery and elevation gain. Shuttles run from the start/finish pavilion to the race starts for both distances. Shuttle service is included with Sacramento Mountains Ultra Series registration and participants are asked to indicate shuttle needs during registration.

Run through the high pines of Cloudcroft, New Mexico on historic railroad and trail routes. Choose from an 8-mile, 3-mile, or a kids' dash, all starting near 8,700 feet. The event features mixed terrain and views of the vast Tularosa Basin.
