The XC Experience takes place on September 19, 2026 in Rutherfordton, NC 28139 US. The event is a 5k held on the R-S Central High School Cross Country course. It is part of the Rutherford Outdoor Coalition (ROC) Race Series.

Course and format

The course is two laps and uses mostly packed dirt or grass trails with some paved sections. Runners start on the north end zone of the football field, run into the woods under a canopy of foliage and across fields, and return to the stadium to finish on the track. Spectators can see participants multiple times along the route.

Entry, awards and series

Entry fees vary by date: until September 5 adults $25 and 18 & under $10; from September 6 until race day adults $30 and 18 & under $15. Shirts are not guaranteed for registrations after September 5. Awards are given to first, second, and third male and female overall; first male and female master (40 and over); and first, second, and third male and female in each age group. Age groups start at 6 and under and continue in standard ranges up to 70 & over. Sponsors and series standings are listed through the ROC Race Series.
