Wobbly Bridge Rathdrum

Event Information

The Wobbly Bridge Rathdrum is a trail running event in Wicklow, scheduled for Wednesday, 24 June 2026. It is part of the IMRA Trail League Leinster.

Distances

Four route options are available:

• Long route: 8 km with 180 m of climb, starting at 19:30.
• Short/junior route: 4.3 km, starting at 19:35.
• Blue route: 2 km, starting at 19:40. It is described as suitable for those seeking a shorter race, including inexperienced/younger children, newcomers to IMRA, and individuals with an intellectual or physical disability. Vehicular access to this start line is available by prior arrangement.
• Inclusive run/roll: A free, wheelchair-accessible challenge over 200 m, 300 m, or 400 m, starting at 19:10. No registration is required. Kids must be fully supervised by parents.

Online entry is required for the long, short, and blue routes. Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult throughout the race.

Route and Location

The route takes in the trails of Ballygannon woods and Clara Vale nature reserve north of Rathdrum. The start for the main races is in a picnic area in Ballygannon Wood. The course involves a series of ups and downs on mostly forgiving trails and includes a crossing of the newly constructed Samuel Hayes bridge on both the long and short courses. The 2 km route is a reduced version of the short course.

Registration is at The Lakehouse, Splash Valley, Rathdrum, which is about a ten-minute walk from the race start. The walk to the Blue start at the Wobbly Bridge includes boardwalk, steps, and some rough terrain.

Practical Details

Entry opens on Monday, 22 June 2026, at 21:00 and closes on race day at 12:00. The cost is €7 for seniors and €5 for over 65s and under 18s. The entry limit is 250.

Limited parking is available at Splash Valley due to construction work. Carpooling is encouraged, with suggested parking in Ashford or at the Memorial Park in Rathdrum. Parking is also available at the race start in Ballygannon Woods.

Race Details

The event is marked only at major junctions. GPS devices are not allowed. The mandatory kit requirement is Level A (Basic), which includes a showerproof, windproof jacket. All runners must bring the required items, and random checks may be carried out.
