Wobbly Bridge Rathdrum

This event, organised by the Irish Mountain Running Association, takes place north of Rathdrum and uses trails through Ballygannon Woods and Clara Vale nature reserve. The main start is in the picnic area in Ballygannon Wood. The course contains a series of ups and downs on mostly forgiving trails and crosses a newly constructed bridge on the long and short courses. Total climb for the main long route is about 180 m and the event difficulty is rated for easy terrain with distances in the 6 km to 10 km range.

There are multiple route options including a junior short route, a two kilometre blue route that starts at the bridge, and an inclusive run or roll that offers 200 m, 300 m or 400 m distances. Walks from registration to the blue start are roughly ten minutes and include boardwalk, steps and some rough terrain. Vehicular access to the blue start is available by prior arrangement.

Registration is at The Lakehouse, Splash Valley, Rathdrum. Parking at Splash Valley is limited due to construction; larger car parks are available in Ashford and at the Memorial Park in Rathdrum. Mandatory Level A kit specifies a showerproof windproof jacket; the exact kit to be carried will be confirmed at registration on the day. Random kit checks may be carried out and failure to have required items can result in denial of entry or disqualification. Children under ten must be accompanied by an adult. Prizegiving will be at The Lakehouse, Splash Valley, Rathdrum. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
