Route

The race is an up-and-down route starting and finishing at Ballineddan. The long course goes up Ballineddan and Slievemaan to Lugnaquilla and returns back to the start the same way. Runners will pass a small stone pile marking the top of Ballineddan and Slievemaan on the way out and back, and run around the cairn marking the top of Lugnaquilla. The route is not marked.

Event Details

The event is part of the Irish Championship and Leinster Championship leagues. Entry costs €7 for seniors and €5 for over 65s and under 18s. The entry limit is 250 runners. Registration opens at 11:45 AM.

An early start is available 30 minutes before the main race start for runners who typically finish in 160% or more of the winner's time. Juniors start a few minutes after the main race.

The start and car parking location is at Ballinabarny Gap. Parking will be off the road on a forest fire-road. A paper map of the route/area is required; digital maps or aids are not allowed as a substitute.

Mandatory Kit

All runners must bring Level C (Advanced) mandatory kit to the race, including a waterproof jacket with hood, hat, gloves, whistle, charged mobile phone, foil blanket, waterproof full leg cover, means to carry water, emergency food, a map, and a compass. The specific kit to be carried during the race will be finalized on the day based on conditions. Failure to have the required items may lead to denied entry or disqualification.
