Log na Coille (Via Ballineddan)
Log na Coille is a traditional up and down mountain race in County Wicklow, starting and finishing near Fenton's pub. The race begins at the foot of Camara Hill, about one mile from the pub, and features a significant ascent.
Distances:
- 10.50 km main course, approximately 700 m climb
- 4.00 km short course
The route is not marked and GPS is not allowed. The event is classified with moderate terrain, more than 500 m ascent, and over 10 km for the main course. It is included in the Irish Championship and the Leinster Championship. Entry fees are €7 for seniors and €5 for over 65s and under 18s. Entries open 6 July 2026 and close 10 July 2026.
Mandatory Level C kit must be carried and includes a waterproof jacket with integrated hood and taped seams, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, charged mobile phone with an emergency number stored, foil blanket or bivvy bag, waterproof full leg cover, means to carry a minimum of 500 mL water, emergency food, a map of the route or area, and a compass. The exact kit to be carried will be finalised at registration depending on conditions. Random checks may be carried out and lack of required items may lead to denial of entry or disqualification.
Parking is at the pub and the local school, with extra parking in a field before the big green shed as you enter the village. Prizegiving will take place at the finish line. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
