Event Overview

The Wivenhoe 5 Mile Trail Run is an evening off-road event scheduled for March 30, 2026. The course covers a distance of 5 miles and follows the tail-end section of the former Colchester Kawasaki 10 course, run in the reverse direction. The run features a mass start and utilizes manual timing, requiring participants to wear their race numbers clearly on the front of their clothing.

The race venue is located at The Black Buoy pub. This location serves as the hub for registration, race number collection, and the finish line. The venue is situated within a five-minute walk of both the local railway station and a car park. Due to the event being hosted on licensed premises, participation is restricted to individuals aged 18 and over.

Participant Requirements and Safety

Safety regulations necessitate that all runners carry a mobile phone and a head torch during the run. Trail shoes and layered clothing are also required for the course conditions. A tail walker follows the final participants to sweep the course.

Participants who are not affiliated with the TRA or UKA are subject to an additional levy on top of the standard entry fee. The event is limited to a total of 50 places. After completing the course, participants can return their race numbers at the bar to receive a beverage, with options including beer, wine, or soft drinks.
