Event Overview

The Wivenhoe 5 Mile Trail Run is scheduled for March 30, 2026. It uses the tail-end section of the old Colchester Kawasaki 10 route, but run in the reverse direction.

Race Details

The run is approximately 5 miles in distance. Participants need to wear layers and trail shoes. Carrying a mobile phone and a head torch is mandatory. The event uses a mass start around 19:00, with registration from 18:30. A tail walker will sweep the course.

Venue and Registration

The race venue is The Black Buoy pub, a five-minute walk from both the railway station and a car park. Race numbers and pins are collected at the pub. Participants can leave bags at their own risk.

Post-Race

At the finish, participants can hand in their race number behind the bar to claim a beer, a glass of wine, or a hot or cold soft drink.

A route narrative is available for download from the organizer's website the week before the race. A start list with race number information and registration details will be emailed a couple of days prior. Runners who are not affiliated with TRA/UKA must pay a £2 levy on entry. A 5K self navigational trail run at Nuclear Essex on 14 February supporting the British Heart Foundation. Participants follow a checkpoint route, are asked to wear something red and receive hot chocolate and Jammie Dodgers at the finish.

Rayne'ing Medals Anniversary at Rayne Station on 15 February 2026 offers 5km to marathon options plus a 6 hour challenge on traffic-free 5.3km loops, aid stations each lap and a choice of bespoke medals.

A roughly 42 mile trail ultra along the historic St Peters Way from Chipping Ongar to the ancient chapel at Bradwell on Sea. The route uses footpaths and bridleways, has four staffed checkpoints and strict compulsory kit requirements.

A one lap, off road 10k at Hadleigh Country Park featuring hilly, muddy trails and kissing gates. The event includes an elite wave, route marshals, a bespoke medal and free race photographs.
