This event is called Witches in the Woods 5K/2K and takes place on October 30, 2026, at the Lake County Fairgrounds in Crown Point, Indiana. The event offers two distances: a timed 5K run and a non-timed 2K walk. Both are Halloween-themed events.

Registration and Pricing

Registration for the 5K costs $30 for adults, while the 2K walk costs $25. Participants aged 3-12 can register for either event for $20. Children under 3 participate for free. Event t-shirts are available for an additional $16 if ordered by October 19; a limited number may be available for purchase after the race. Registration and packet pickup begin at 5:15 PM on-site. The organizer states there are no refunds due to weather or other reasons, and registration transfers are not permitted after October 1.

Event Features

The events start at 6:00 PM, making them nighttime runs and walks. Participants are advised to bring flashlights or headlamps. The first 200 people to sign up receive a finisher's medal. Awards are given to the top overall finishers and the top three finishers in each age group. There are also prizes for the best costume. Strollers are welcome.

Registration also includes free entry to the concurrent Hometown Hocus Pocus Market, which features shopping, live music, food, craft drinks, trick-or-treating, and costume contests.
