Winter Sugar Loaf

Winter Sugar Loaf is a fell race held near Abergavenny with a measured course of 9.6 km and 485 m of ascent (6 miles / 1,590 ft). The event is scheduled for Saturday 31 October 2026. Entry is handled via Fabian4 and the entry fee is £9.

The route is partially waymarked and runners are required not to take short cuts. To limit erosion, competitors must follow the main tourist path with stone steps up to the summit of Sugar Loaf. Full WFRA kit is required for the whole race and participants not carrying the full kit will be disqualified.

Limited parking is available close to the venue at The Crown, Pantygelli, near Abergavenny (GR SO302179). Organisers cannot block lanes or access to farms or the pub, so cycling and car sharing are recommended. Prizes and discounts are offered to those who comply with event requirements; further details are to be confirmed.

The race is described as suitable for road runners wanting to try fell racing for the first time. Weather in October can be severe, so the kit requirement is enforced for the duration of the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
