Winter Downs 200
The Winter Downs 200 is a 200 mile continuous trail run that follows a loop through the South of England. The event takes place in December, starting and finishing at Juniper Hall near Dorking. The course utilizes several established long-distance paths, including the North Downs Way, Vanguard Way, South Downs Way, Wayfarers Walk, and St Swithuns Way.
As a single-stage race, the clock runs continuously throughout the event. Participants are permitted a maximum of 96 hours to complete the course. The winter setting typically involves roughly 16 hours of darkness each day. The terrain is undulating, with significant distances between support points.
The route begins at Juniper Hall and travels east for 18 miles along the North Downs Way before joining the Vanguard Way. Runners then head south for 45 miles to reach Alfriston, where they transition to the South Downs Way. The course follows this trail west for nearly 80 miles to Exton. From there, the route turns northeast via the Wayfarers Walk and St Swithuns Way for 32 miles to Farnham, eventually rejoining the North Downs Way for the final 25-mile stretch back to the start.
Organizers provide live tracking for the duration of the event. Three major aid stations are positioned along the route, offering hot food and sleeping facilities. Runners are permitted to use a crew and can access a drop bag at these primary stations.
