The Winter Downs 200 is a continuous trail run of 200mi (321 km) held 10–14 December 2025. The route is a giant loop in the south of England with a total ascent of 22,500 ft (6,800 m). The event has a maximum field of 100 starters, a cut-off of 96 hours and an entry fee of £600 with a non-refundable deposit of £200. The minimum age is 20. The organiser requires applicants to submit previous running or multi-sport experience for acceptance. Terrain is approximately 20% road and 80% trail. The race is held under a UK Athletics permit (permit number pending). Medical support is provided throughout the event week.
Course, aid and rules
The route starts and finishes at Juniper Hall, Old London Road, Dorking, and follows five named trails in sequence: North Downs Way, Vanguard Way, South Downs Way, Wayfarers Walk and St Swithuns Way. The course is not marked; competitors must use the provided GPX files for navigation. There are three major aid stations and one safety point: Mile 49 Blackboys Village Hall (3 hour stay limit), Mile 92 Truleigh Hill YHA, Mile 137 Sustainability Centre (both with sleeping and food), and Mile 183 Puttenham Cricket Club Pavilion (safety point, 60 minute limit). Runners may have one drop bag (max 20 kg and 120 litres) available at the three major aid stations. Crews are allowed at specified points but are not permitted at the aid stations. Pacers are not permitted. A full mandatory kit list applies and a one hour penalty is imposed if items are missing. Awards include a finisher buckle and place prizes for male, female and veteran categories. Average conditions listed: 5C, 90 mm rainfall, 80% humidity.
