The Winter Downs 200 is a 200 mile continuous trail run held from Wednesday 9th to Sunday 13th December 2026. The event starts and finishes at Juniper Hall in Dorking, RH5 6DA. The minimum age for entry is 20 or older. Runners have up to 96 hours to complete the course. The race is held under a UK Athletics permit granted through the TRA - permit number to be confirmed.
Route and logistics
The route is a large loop around the south of England and follows sections of established trails: the North Downs Way, Vanguard Way, South Downs Way, Wayfarers Walk and St Swithuns Way. The course sequence in the source text is:
- 18 miles east on the North Downs Way to its intersection with the Vanguard Way at Botley Hill
- 45 miles south on the Vanguard Way to Alfriston (the 91 mile point)
- almost 80 miles west on the South Downs Way to Exton
- 32 miles northeast on the Wayfarers Walk and St Swithuns Way up to Farnham
- final 25 miles on the North Downs Way back to Box Hill and Juniper Hall
Live tracking is provided across the entire event. Runners may have a crew and access a drop bag at three major aid stations, where hot food and sleeping facilities will be available. The race is a single-stage event and the clock does not stop. The schedule includes extended winter darkness, noted as about 16 hours of darkness each day.
