Wicklow Way Relay

The Wicklow Way Relay is a team relay along the Wicklow Way from Kilmashogue to Shillelagh covering varied terrain and significant ascent. The course distance is approximately 104 km with total climb around 3,500 m and is divided into eight stages. Stages range in length, with individual legs between 8 km and 21 km.

Teams consist of between 2 and 8 runners. The event is open to 40 to 45 teams pending permits and is a fundraising event for the IMRA junior international teams. Entry is handled per team at a fixed fee; for 2026 the event listing shows full capacity.

Route rules require following the Wicklow Way as signposted, with one published exception on Leg 8 where teams leave the Wicklow Way after passing the Dying Cow to finish at Parkview House, Shillelagh. Only major junctions are marked on the course. GPS devices are permitted and a team baton containing a GPS tracker carried in a waistbelt is used for changeovers.

Safety and eligibility requirements include IMRA membership for 2026, mandatory Level A kit including a showerproof, windproof jacket, recced legs in advance, specified team composition rules for women and veteran runners, age limits for juniors, and provision of a car park marshal by each team. A fully marked mountain run on Bray Head in County Wicklow with a 7.66 km main route (342 m climb) and a 4.00 km junior course; varied terrain, mandatory Level B kit, GPS allowed, entry limited to 250.

Experience an endurance trail challenge in the scenic Avondale Forest Park. Choose between 50 km and 100 km solo distances or join a 100 km team relay on a supported 3.2 km forest loop.

A fully marked 21.5 km mountain loop in County Wicklow with about 750 m of ascent. The course goes over Trooperstown Hill and through Clara Vale, includes a water station near 16 km, and requires Level B mandatory kit.

Tibradden in County Dublin on 29 April 2026 features fully marked mountain running routes of 9.90 km and 4.50 km with 365 m climb on the main course. Level B mandatory kit is required and GPS is not allowed.
