Ardgillan Trail Race

The Ardgillan event takes place within the Ardgillan Demesne, located on the coast between Skerries and Balbriggan in County Dublin. The course features a mix of terrain including rolling hills, steep runnable climbs, and a section on firm sand along the beach. The route is fully marked and follows various paths through the parkland, including a crossing over the Lady's Stairs pedestrian footbridge.

Participants can choose from the following distances:

  • 8.99 km with 190 meters of climb
  • 5 km junior course (contained within the park)

The event is part of the Trail League Leinster and is classified with a difficulty rating of 4, indicating easy terrain with an ascent of less than 200 meters. Runners are required to carry mandatory kit, which includes a showerproof and windproof jacket. Timing chips are used for result tracking and must be fixed to shoe laces.

The park is accessible via the M1 motorway with parking available near the main entrance at the top car park. Public transport options include Dublin Bus routes and train stations at Balbriggan and Skerries, both located approximately 4 km from the park.
