Ardgillan
Ardgillan - Irish Mountain Running Association
Ardgillan takes place in Ardgillan Demesne, County Dublin on Wednesday 20th May 2026. The event is organised by the Irish Mountain Running Association and offers a main trail race and a shorter junior course inside the park.
Distances
- 9.50 km main course, approximately 190 m climb
- 5.00 km short course and junior course inside the park
The route is fully marked and GPS is allowed. The course runs through the demesne with rolling hills, runnable climbs, a firm sand beach section, and the local Parkrun finish hill. Views of the Mourne Mountains are possible in clear conditions. The junior course omits the bridge and beach sections and finishes at the same location as the main race.
Mandatory kit is Level A basic and includes a showerproof windproof jacket. All entrants must bring the required items; the final kit to be carried may be advised at registration and random kit checks may be carried out. Failure to have required items may lead to denial of entry or disqualification.
Entry fee is €7 for seniors and €5 for over 65s and under 18s. Online registration is for 2026 members only and there are no on the day entries. Entrants should ensure they receive email payment confirmation.
Access is via Ardgillan Castle Car Park between Skerries and Balbriggan off the M1. Parking is directed to the top car park near the main entrance where the start and finish are located. Dublin Bus 33 serves the area; Balbriggan and Skerries train stations lie a little over 4 km from the park. There are composting toilets near the top car park and public facilities at the castle. Prizegiving is at the Man o' War Gastropub about 5 km from Ardgillan with parking to the rear.
Race numbers must be visible on the chest. If a competitor does not finish they must notify the organisers so they are not reported missing. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
