Event Details

The Ardgillan run takes place on Wednesday, 20 May, 2026 in Dublin. It is part of the Trail League Leinster.

The Route

The 8.99 km course takes place within Ardgillan Demesne. The route features rolling hills, runnable climbs, and a section along a beach on firm sand. One technical section involves using the Lady's Stairs footbridge to cross a railway track and descend to the beach. The course is fully marked. The event includes a junior course, which is approximately 5 km long and remains inside the park. Organizers note some small changes to this year's route to better use the park and simplify the layout. The finish line has been relocated and adds over 300 m along a laneway next to the start field.

Race Logistics

The event has an entry limit of 250 participants. Online registration is required, with no registrations taken on the day. The entry fee is €7 for seniors, and €5 for over 65s and under 18s. Registration closes on the race day at 12:00. All runners must bring Level A mandatory kit, which includes a showerproof, windproof jacket. Failure to have required items may lead to denied entry or disqualification. Participants should arrive early. Standard registration closes at 19:15 for a start at 19:30. An early start at 19:00 is available for runners expecting to finish in more than 160% of the last race winner's time; these runners must register by 18:45. The park closes at 21:00.

Getting There

The event starts near the top car park at Ardgillan Castle. Drivers should use "Ardgillan Castle Car Park" for navigation and are advised to allow extra time for potential M1 traffic congestion. Public transport options include Dublin Bus route 33, with stops near the Lady's Stairs. Train stations in Balbriggan and Skerries are each just over 4 km from the park.

The prize-giving location is The Man o' War Gastropub, approximately 5 km from Ardgillan. Sponsored finger food and spot prizes will be available. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
