Sugar Bowl

The Sugar Bowl is a mountain running event on the slopes of the Great Sugarloaf in County Wicklow, held under the Irish Mountain Running Association and listed in the Leinster League. The course is a circuit that includes a summit approach and varied mountain terrain. The route is fully waymarked and GPS use is permitted. The organiser rates the event difficulty as 7 with difficult terrain. The main route includes steep climbs and technical descents; trail shoes are recommended.

The mandatory kit level is B and all runners must carry a waterproof jacket, hat or buff, gloves, a whistle, a charged mobile phone with an emergency number stored, and a foil blanket or bivvy bag. The final kit to be carried will be confirmed at registration. Participants must be able to carry the required kit; random kit checks may occur and lack of required items can result in denied entry or disqualification.

Entries are limited to 250. Entry fees are €7 for seniors and €5 for over 65s and under 18s. Results will be posted on the event forum after the race. Parking is via the field beside the Great Sugarloaf car park and parking directions should be followed. There will be refreshments at the finish and a raffle with donated prizes. A fully marked mountain run on Bray Head in County Wicklow with a 7.66 km main route (342 m climb) and a 4.00 km junior course; varied terrain, mandatory Level B kit, GPS allowed, entry limited to 250.

Experience an endurance trail challenge in the scenic Avondale Forest Park. Choose between 50 km and 100 km solo distances or join a 100 km team relay on a supported 3.2 km forest loop.

A fully marked 21.5 km mountain loop in County Wicklow with about 750 m of ascent. The course goes over Trooperstown Hill and through Clara Vale, includes a water station near 16 km, and requires Level B mandatory kit.

Tibradden in County Dublin on 29 April 2026 features fully marked mountain running routes of 9.90 km and 4.50 km with 365 m climb on the main course. Level B mandatory kit is required and GPS is not allowed.
