Sugar Bowl

The event is a circuit and climb of the Great Sugarloaf in County Wicklow on marked trails. The course includes grassy banks, single track, very technical trail sections, marshy ground, and steep climbs and descents. Trail shoes are recommended. The route is fully waymarked and GPS use is allowed.

Mandatory kit at Level B is required: waterproof jacket, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, charged mobile phone with an emergency number stored, and a foil blanket, bivvy bag or equivalent. The kit to be carried during the race may be finalised on the day and will be advised at registration. Failure to carry the required items may lead to denied entry or disqualification and random kit checks may be carried out. Participants should also have the means to carry the kit if required.

Registration takes place in the field beside the Great Sugarloaf car park. There is a short diversion on the main trail due to restoration work. An early start option is offered for this route. Results will be posted on the event forum in the days after the race. Note that where membership and race entry are not required, participation is not covered by IMRA insurance and participants are responsible for their own safety. Children must be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
