40th Annual Whiteface Mountain Uphill Foot Race

The event is an uphill road race that ascends approximately 3,500 feet along the Whiteface Mountain Veterans Memorial Highway to the summit of Whiteface Mountain, New York’s fifth highest peak. The course covers a distance of 8 miles and finishes at the mountain top, offering a 360° panoramic view of the Adirondacks, New England and Canada.

The race takes place in Wilmington, NY, with the start area set in the center of Wilmington at the intersection of Route 86 and Route 431. Packet pickup and primary parking are located at the Whiteface Visitors Bureau, 5753 NYS Route 86. Additional parking is available across the street from Preston Field. Packet pickup occurs the day before the race and on race day.

The race fee includes a finishers medal and a t-shirt. Participants registered by May 1 will receive the race shirt. Special spectator passes are available for those who wish to travel to the summit to watch; these passes must be purchased with cash at packet pickup and vehicles purchasing a pass must proceed up the mountain prior to the race start. Mountain running at Whiteface Mountain Ski Resort on July 4, 2026. Options include a single loop Mountain Race (~10 km, ~3,900 ft), a two loop SkyRace (~20 km, ~7,800 ft), a Vertical K and a kids climb, finishing at the summit.

This backyard ultra challenges runners to complete a 4.167-mile loop each hour on Mt. Hovenberg's trails. Participants set their own distance goals, and the last person standing wins. The event supports Team RWB and is capped at 200 runners..

Trail races at Mt Van Hoevenberg on August 8, 2026 offer 10K, half marathon and 50K courses over single track and steep terrain. Start and finish are in the venue stadium and course maps are provided.
