Last Man Standing Lake Placid
Last Man Standing Lake Placid is a backyard ultra held on wooded trails at Mt. Hovenberg in Lake Placid, New York. The event takes place on July 25, 2026 and follows the original backyard ultra format.
Participants must complete one 4.167-mile loop every hour. Runners who finish a loop may rest, refuel, and prepare in the corral, but must be present to start the next loop on time; failure to start a loop when required results in elimination. The course runs on natural trails through forested terrain at Mt. Hovenberg.
Registration opens on 2025-08-31 and closes on 2026-05-15. Current tiered pricing noted on 2026-05-03, with 181 sign-ups at that time, ranges from $115 to $145 depending on participant count; entry is capped at 200 runners, after which a waitlist will be used. Race giveaways include shirts and medals. For 2026 there are new award ribbon sliders that attach to medal ribbons for reaching ultra distance levels such as 50k, 50 mile, 100k, and 100 mile.
Awards are given for Overall Champion, Male and Female Overall, Masters Male and Female, and Grand Masters Male and Female (new for 2026). The event emphasizes repeated hourly loops on the trail course and the resulting cumulative distance achieved by participants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
