Last Man Standing Lake Placid

Lake Placid, United States • 25 Jul 2026

Event Format

The Last Man Standing Lake Placid is a backyard ultra race based on a format created by Lazarus Lake. The event takes place on the trails at Mt. Hovenberg in Lake Placid, New York.

Course and Rules

The race consists of a fixed loop that is 4.167 miles (approximately 6.706 kilometers) long. A new loop starts at the top of each hour. Participants must complete one loop within each hour to remain in the race. If a runner fails to start a loop on time, they are eliminated. The last person to complete a loop is declared the overall winner. However, participants can set their own distance goals, running for a specific number of loops rather than competing to be the last one standing.

Location and Details

The event is held at 31 Van Hoevenberg Way in Lake Placid. Race giveaways include shirts and medals. New for 2026 are award ribbon sliders that attach to the run medal ribbons for hitting ultra distance levels (50k, 50 mile, 100k, and 100 mile). Awards are given for several categories, including Overall Champion, Male/Female Overall, Masters Male/Female, and Grand Masters Male/Female. The race caps at 200 runners, after which a waitlist will be created. A portion of the race proceeds benefits Team Red, White & Blue (Team RWB).
