The Lake Placid Trail Challenge, held at Mt. Van Hoevenberg in Lake Placid, NY, offers trail running races of 10K, half marathon (21K), and 50K distances. Set in a historic winter sports complex that hosted the 1980 Winter Olympics, the course features single-track, steep, and flowy trails through dense forests. Runners start and finish in the stadium, tackling challenging climbs including a steep ascent to the top of a bobsled track, rewarded with epic summit views before a demanding descent. The event takes place in summer with average temperatures ranging from 10ºC to 24ºC (51ºF to 75ºF) at an altitude of about 550 meters (1,800 feet).
