The Whiteface Mountain Races, held at Whiteface Mountain Ski Resort in Wilmington, NY, are among the most challenging mountain running events in the U.S., featuring exceptional vertical gain and loss per mile. The main race, the Marshak Mountain Race, offers a 10K loop with about 3,800 feet of elevation gain and loss, or a grueling 21K double loop with roughly 7,700 feet of vertical change. Additionally, the Ascent race is a steep 2.3-mile climb gaining 3,100 feet to the summit. The event also includes a 1-mile Kids Klymber ascent and social group runs on Sunday. The course traverses alpine ski slopes, utility roads, and rugged terrain, providing stunning views of the Adirondack Peaks and a demanding test of endurance.
