The Whiteface Mountain Races take place on July 4, 2026 at Whiteface Mountain Ski Resort, 5021 NY-86, Wilmington, NY. The weekend includes multiple race options, a kids ascent, and local group runs on the following day. Finish for the mountain events is at the top of Whiteface’s Summit Lift; finishers may descend to Little Whiteface for a gondola ride to the base or descend on foot.
Race formats and course
Entrants can choose individual events or combine them as the "Vert Junky" option. Distances and elevation figures listed by the organizer include:
- 10k (≈6.2 miles) : ≈3,900' gain/loss, 1 loop
- 20k (≈12.5 miles) : ≈7,800' gain/loss, 2 loops
- Vertical K (≈2.5 miles) : ≈3,200' vertical, direct steep ascent
- Kids Ascent (≈1 mile) : ascent from top of the gondola
The Marshak Mountain Race uses mountain utility roads, grassy and hummocky alpine slopes, and a mix of steep ascents and descents at about 40% grade. Aid stations provide water, electrolyte drink, and snacks at mid-mountain and summit locations. The Vertical K follows a direct, steep line using ski slopes, utility road, and hummocky alpine terrain.
Logistics and entry rules
The event is ISF sanctioned for some formats. Cutoff and intermediate requirements include a 6-hour cutoff for the 2-loop race with a requirement to clear loop one within 2 hours 45 minutes, and a 2.5-hour cutoff for the Vertical K with intermediate time checks at 1.2 and 2 miles. Entry fee includes the event and a tee. Poles are permitted. No race-day registration is offered. Refunds are not provided after May 1; transfers or rolls are accepted if arranged by that date.
