White Pine 50 Backcountry Run

The White Pine 50 Backcountry Run is a 50-mile looped trail race through Upper Logan Canyon in northern Utah. The course starts and ends at Beaver Mountain Ski Area and follows sections of the Bear 100 route.

All runners must meet a specified hydration requirement when leaving Spawn Creek and Tony Grove aid stations: a minimum of 2 liters carried (four full soft flasks) or 1.5 liters if carrying a water filter. The event includes a Fish Slap prize for participants who combine running with fishing. First-place male and female finishers receive automatic entry into the next Bear 100 via the Bear Tag. The race is linked to the Cache Slam series that covers local ultra trail events.

Course logistics note that Beaver Mountain may be under construction in 2026, so exact start and finish locations, parking and camping arrangements may be finalized closer to race day. A map, elevation profile and a downloadable GPS file are provided for the course. The Runner’s Guide contains the full course description and notes on course marking and hydration.

Registration policy changes: rollovers are no longer offered; refunds are processed only if a waitlist replacement is available and the entry system fee is non-refundable. A flexible start time option is available for runners concerned about cut-offs.

Camping and lodging options include paid camping at Beaver Mountain, free dispersed sites along nearby roads, USFS campgrounds (Sunrise, Lewis Turner, Tony Grove), and local lodging in Garden City and Logan. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
