The Bear is a point to point 100 Miler held on 25 September 2026 that begins in Logan, Utah and finishes at Bear Lake on the Utah/Idaho border. The course passes through the Pines, Golden Aspen, and Red Maples of the Wasatch-Cache National Forest and the Bear River Range.
The event marks its 28th anniversary in 2026. It is a Hardrock and Western States 100 qualifier and is listed as a UTMB index race. The published race fee is $350 plus tax and an Ultrasignup fee. Lottery registration for the 2026 event ran from 15 November to 15 December 2025; the lottery was held on 27 December 2025 and registration subsequently closed.
Entrants must meet a qualifying requirement: complete a 50 mile race in under 16 hours or complete any 100K, 100, or 200 mile race within the race cutoff. The qualifying window for the 2026 event was 1 December 2021 through 1 December 2025; qualifiers are verified via official race results. Runners are also required to perform eight hours of service (trail work or volunteering) within the service window from 25 September 2025 through 15 September 2026.
