El Oso Loco Trail Race Series
El Oso Loco Trail Race Series is a summer midweek race series in Logan, Utah that highlights trails in the Bear River Range within the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. The series was developed in 2023 to showcase local trails and to support an Adopt-a-Trail partnership between Cache Trails Alliance and the local Forest Service district. Proceeds from registration fees and t-shirt sales support Cache Trails Alliance staff, programming, and resources.
Races are offered in two course lengths. Downloadable course maps are posted online as a StoryMap.
- Short Course: 4 to 5 miles
- Long Course: 8 to 10 miles
Registration for each race date is capped at 125 runners combined across both courses. Series passes and individual race entries have set on-sale dates and tiered pricing: series passes go on sale April 1 and increase on May 1; individual race entries go on sale April 15 and increase on May 1. Refunds are issued only for cancellations before June 1; after that date registrations can be transferred to another runner. Series pass holders must choose either the long or short series; individual race registrants may mix course lengths but times will not combine for series awards.
End-of-season awards are given to the top three male and female finishers in both the long and short series, with additional age-bracket winners possible for those who meet participation requirements. Dogs are not allowed to run with participants. There are no aid stations on course; water is available at the start and finish and runners must carry their own water and fuel.
