Whispering Pines Trail Event : Inverness, FL (Feb 14, 2026)
This is a day-long trail event held at Whispering Pines City Park in Inverness, Florida. The event is free; donations are used to cover park rental, insurance, aid station supplies, and similar costs. Any funds remaining after expenses will be donated to the park. Registration opens November 1, 2025. The event has a capacity of 175 runners.
The event is open to all ages and paces. Participants may run, walk, or mix both and may complete as many loops as they wish. Check-in opens in the morning and remains open into the afternoon. Participants who complete at least two loops (a total of 10 miles) receive a finisher award.
Course, aid, and logistics
The course is a 5-mile loop that begins and ends at the pavilion by Parking Lot B and the playground. Trails mix single-track and double-track. Surfaces include packed sand and pine needles, with gentle hills and ample shade. Each loop crosses two paved roads within the park. The route will be marked with arrows and orange flagging ribbon; many intersecting trails exist, so attention to markings is advised.
An aid station will be located at the Start/Finish with standard trail food and drinks. Participants may bring items to contribute to the aid station potluck. The park address is 1700 Forest Drive. There are nearby motel and campground options several miles from the start; no overnight stays are allowed inside Whispering Pines Park.
