Whispering Pines - February 14, 2026

Whispering Pines takes place at Whispering Pines City Park in Inverness, FL, with the main gathering at the pavilion by Parking Lot B and the playground at 1700 Forest Drive. The event is free; donations are requested to cover park rental, insurance, aid station supplies, and other essentials. Any remaining funds will be donated to the park. The event has a capacity of 175 runners; spots may open if people withdraw.

Course and logistics

  • 5-mile loop
  • 10 miles required for a finisher award

The course is a loop that begins and ends at the pavilion. Trails mix single-track and double-track surfaces, with packed sand and pine needles, gentle hills, and substantial shade. Each loop crosses two paved roads inside the park. The route will be marked with arrows and orange flagging ribbon; many intersecting trails require attention to markings. Participants should check in with the timing crew after each loop to report plans.

An aid station will be located at the Start/Finish with standard trail food and drinks; participants may contribute items to a shared potluck aid table. Nearby lodging options include the Central Motel (about 3 miles), a Holiday Inn Express (about 4 miles), campgrounds in Withlacoochee State Forest (about 4 and 6.5 miles), and additional motels near I-75/Hwy 44 in Wildwood (about 16 miles). Overnight stays are not allowed inside Whispering Pines Park. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
