Whispering Pines in Inverness, FL

Whispering Pines is a 12 hour trail endurance event held in Inverness, Florida. The course is a 5 mile loop that begins and ends at the pavilion near Parking Lot B and the playground in Whispering Pines City Park. The event is organized by A1 Ultra Events and is run as a donation based community event; donations are used to cover park rental, insurance, and aid station supplies, and any remaining funds are donated to the park.

Trails combine single track and double track. Surfaces include packed sand and pine needles, with gentle hills and substantial tree shade. Each loop crosses two paved park roads; the course is marked with arrows and orange flagging ribbon at turns and key junctions. Participants should check in with the timing crew after each loop to report plans.

An aid station will be located at the pavilion start finish area offering standard trail food and drinks. Participants may contribute food or drinks to the aid station potluck. Finisher awards are given to everyone who completes at least two loops, a total of 10 miles.

The event capacity is 185 runners. There is no waitlist and spots may open as people withdraw. Inverness offers a small number of motels and nearby campgrounds within a few miles of the park. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
