Whispering Pines, Inverness FL, February 14, 2026

Whispering Pines is a free trail event held at Whispering Pines City Park. The gathering is centered at the pavilion by Parking Lot B and the playground. Capacity is limited to 185 runners. The event operates on donations to cover park rental, insurance, and aid station supplies; any remaining funds will be donated to the park.

The course is a single loop of 4 miles for 2026 due to construction. The loop begins and ends at the pavilion. Participants may repeat the loop multiple times and should check in with the timing crew after each loop.

Trails include a mix of single-track and double-track sections. Surfaces are packed sand and pine needles. The route has gentle hills and substantial shade. Each loop crosses two paved roads inside the park. The course will be marked with arrows and orange flagging ribbon; there are many intersecting trails so attention to markings is advised.

An aid station will be located at the start and finish with standard trail food and drinks. A shared potluck contribution is welcome. Check-in is available on event day. Everyone who completes at least 2 loops (8 miles) will receive a finisher award.

Accommodations near the start include a few motels and nearby campgrounds. No overnight stays are allowed inside the park. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
