Whispering Pines 12 hour endurance race
Whispering Pines is a 12 hour trail event held at Whispering Pines City Park in Inverness, FL, with the pavilion by Parking Lot B and the playground used as the start and finish area. The main course is a loop of 5 miles that begins and ends at the pavilion. Participants may run or walk as many loops as they choose. Completing at least two loops (10 miles) earns a finisher award.
Trails combine single-track and double-track segments. Surfaces include packed sand and pine needles, and the route features gentle hills and substantial shade. Each loop crosses two paved roads inside the park; the course will be marked with arrows and orange flagging ribbon, and there are multiple intersecting trails, so participants should follow the markings to stay on course.
An aid station will be located at the start/finish pavilion and will offer standard trail food and drinks. The event encourages contributions to a shared aid station potluck. The event is free; donations are requested to cover park rental, insurance, and aid supplies, and any remaining funds will be donated to park care.
Capacity is limited to 185 runners; there is no waitlist. Check-in is conducted on the morning of the event and remains open into the afternoon. The venue address is 1700 Forest Drive, Inverness, FL.
