Western States Training Camp - Memorial Weekend (May 23-25, 2026)

The event takes place in Foresthill, CA (24750 Foresthill Rd) over Memorial Day weekend. It offers three training runs that cover the final 70 miles of the Western States course. The training runs include aid stations, but runners are asked to carry their own water and supplies. Cutoffs will be based on a 30-hour Western States 100-mile finish time, approximately 18 minutes per mile. General registration opens December 20, 2025; automatics and lottery winners have an earlier two-week registration window.

Training run details

  • 32 miles - Robinson Flat to Foresthill Elementary (Saturday). Bus transport to Robinson Flat; route includes Devil's Thumb and Michigan Bluff. Snow may require a substitute route.
  • 19 miles - California Street section from Foresthill Elementary to Drivers Flat (Sunday). A shuttle will return runners from Drivers Flat to Foresthill Elementary.
  • 20 miles - Green Gate to Placer High School in Auburn (Monday). Buses run from Placer High School to Green Gate.
