Western States Training Camp - Memorial Weekend
Foresthill, United States • 23-25 May 2026
Overview
The Western States Training Camp runs over Memorial Weekend and offers three training runs that cover much of the last 70 miles of the Western States course. The event includes aid stations on each run, but participants are advised to carry their own water and any other supplies they need. Cutoffs are based on a 30-hour Western States 100-mile finish time, which is approximately an 18-minute per mile pace. Registration for 2026 opens first to automatic qualifiers and lottery winners for about two weeks after the lottery (until December 22) before opening to the general public. All events are sold out.
Daily runs and routes
Saturday: Meeting at Foresthill Elementary School with bus transportation to Robinson Flat (about a one hour drive). The Saturday run returns from Robinson Flat to Foresthill, covering approximately the canyon sections and the climbs known as Devil's Thumb and Michigan Bluff. If snow prevents access to Robinson Flat, a substitute route over as much of that section as possible will be used.
Sunday: The run begins at Foresthill Elementary School on the California Street section and finishes at Drivers Flat. A shuttle bus returns runners from Drivers Flat to Foresthill Elementary School. The distance is about 19 miles.
Monday: Meet at Placer High School in Auburn; buses transport participants to Green Gate (about a 50 minute drive). The final run covers the last 20 miles back to the finish at Placer High School.
