Western States Training Camp - Memorial Weekend
Foresthill, United States • 23-25 May 2026
Event Overview
The Western States Training Camp over Memorial Weekend features three separate training runs designed to acquaint participants with the last 70 miles of the Western States trail. Participation does not require being a Western States entrant. Over 750 runners typically participate during the three-day weekend. The runs include bus transportation, aid stations, and finish-line meals and massages. Participants should carry their own water and supplies.
The Runs
The camp consists of three runs on consecutive days, each with its own route and logistics.
- Day 1 (May 23): A run from Robinson Flat to Foresthill Elementary School, covering approximately 32 miles. This section features the canyons and two major climbs, Devil’s Thumb and Michigan Bluff. The exact route depends on snow conditions.
- Day 2 (May 24): A run from Foresthill Elementary School to Driver’s Flat via Rucky Chucky, covering 19 miles. A shuttle bus returns runners from Driver’s Flat.
- Day 3 (May 25): A run from Green Gate near Rucky Chucky to the finish line in Auburn, covering approximately 20 miles.
Logistics and Fees
Each run has its own fee and registration process. Day 1 costs $80 online ($85 at check-in). Days 2 and 3 cost $70 online ($75 at check-in). Registration for 2026 is sold out, with no online waitlist. A waitlist will be available on-site each day. A no-refund policy is in place, and fees are not refundable for cancellations due to weather, fire, or permit issues.
