Western States Training Camp - Memorial Weekend
Foresthill, United States • 23-25 May 2026
Trail Training Event Overview
The Memorial Weekend Training Runs represent a three-day event designed to familiarize participants with the final 70 miles of the Western States Endurance Run course. The program consists of three point-to-point runs through varied mountain terrain, reaching locations such as Foresthill, Robinson Flat, and Auburn. Graduation from any single day is not required to participate in others, and the event is open to the general public, not just race entrants.
Participants can choose from three daily distances:
- 32 miles: Robinson Flat to Foresthill, featuring significant climbs at Devil’s Thumb and Michigan Bluff.
- 19 miles: Foresthill to Rucky Chucky and up to Driver’s Flat via California Street.
- 20 miles: Green Gate to the finish line in Auburn.
Support and Logistics
The organization provides bus transportation to starting points or back from finish lines depending on the specific day. Fully stocked aid stations are situated along the trail, though runners are expected to carry their own water and supplies. Meals and access to massages are provided at the conclusion of each run.
Safety measures include strictly enforced cut-off times at aid stations based on an 18-minute mile pace. Due to the nature of the high country, routes may be modified based on snow levels and weather conditions. Registration typically opens to the public in late December following a priority period for race entrants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
