The Cool Moon Trail Races take place in Cool, California on June 13-14, 2026, at the Cool Staging Area (7200 Saint Florian Court). Distances offered include:

- 50 miles

- 13.5 miles
- 11.5 miles
- 5K
Live runner tracking will be available via ultralive.net, and timing chips and the organizer's timing equipment will be used. Time cutoffs are listed for the longer events: 100K - 37 hours; 50 miles - 35 hours; 25 miles - 35 hours. The 13.5-mile, 11.5-mile, and 5K races have no cutoff.
Course and logistics
The event uses two main loops: a 13.5-mile North loop and an 11.5-mile South loop. Runners combine the North loop then the South loop to reach their chosen distance. The course surfaces are single track and fire roads. Approximate elevation gain by distance is provided: 100K ~9,000 ft; 50-mile ~6,700 ft; 25-mile ~3,350 ft; 13.5-mile loop ~2,200 ft; 11.5-mile loop ~1,150 ft.
The 5K is roughly 3.43 miles, described as half road and half trail, with about 243 ft of elevation gain/loss and a lightly rolling profile. Aid stations on the North loop: The Ranch (mi 4.5, full), Top of Dam Switchbacks (mi 8.8, water only), Knickerbocker (mi 10, full), The Ranch (mi 12.3, full), Cool Staging Area (mi 13.5, full). Aid stations on the South loop: Knickerbocker (mi 16, full), Pilot Hill (mi 19, water only), Catecroft (mi 20.5, full), Knickerbocker (mi 23, full), Cool Staging Area (mi 25, full).
Pacers are allowed for the 100K and 50-mile events only after completion of the third loop (mile 38.5). Crews are restricted to the Cool Staging Area and may assist runners after each loop. Drop bags are available for the 100K, 50-mile, and 25-mile distances at Cool and Knickerbocker.
All finishers receive a finisher's medal and shirt. Additional awards: 50-mile finishers receive a custom plaque; 100K finishers receive a custom buckle; top three overall male and female finishers in each distance receive custom plaques.
