Lake Natoma Trail Run

The Fair Oaks Recreation & Park District presents the Lake Natoma Trail Run, formerly known as the Mississippi Bar Trail Run. The annual trail event takes place on the north shore of Lake Natoma in Fair Oaks and follows wetlands, oak-studded bluffs, single-track trails and rocky terrain that reflect the area's gold-mining past. The 2026 occurrence is the fourth annual and is scheduled for June 6, 2026.

The course highlights include meandering trails of the American River, rolling oak-covered hills, and visible rock dredge trails left by historic mining. The 5K route rises into oak-lined bluffs with sections of single and double track and noticeable changes in elevation before descending to a flat access road back to the main event area. The 10K follows the same core trails with added sections through dredged rock areas and along the shores of Lake Natoma. Course maps are subject to change.
