West Virginia Trail Fest
West Virginia Trail Fest is a family-oriented annual trail running event held in May in Pocahontas County, West Virginia, centered on Snowshoe Village and nearby public lands. The event presents multiple trail race distances and weekend activities across Snowshoe Village, Seneca State Park, Cass Historic Railroad, and other local sites.
Race distances:
- 100K: 11,500 ft elevation gain, two historic fire towers, route through three state parks.
- 50K: Cass Historic Railroad start, 6,300 ft elevation gain, climbs two historic fire towers.
- 30K: 3,800 ft elevation gain, includes a historic fire tower, start and finish at Snowshoe Village.
- 5K: evening course around Snowshoe Village with about 650 ft elevation gain.
- 1M Kids Run: one-mile fun run at Shaver's Center in Snowshoe Village.
Weekend programming includes a family movie night, kid's activities, a ride on the Cass Historic Railroad, a local artisan and farmers market, vendor expo, live bands, fireworks, an awards ceremony and raffle, and a sponsored shake-out run. The event highlights regional features such as West Virginia state parks, the Monongahela National Forest, views of the Green Bank Observatory, historic fire towers, and Snowshoe Ski Resort.
