Event Overview

The AZ Walk of Courage is a fundraising event for the nonprofit Changed by Fire and other local organizations. It is the 7th annual edition. The event aims to advocate for burn survivors and build a community of inclusion and support.

Participants can choose from several distances:

  • 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk A virtual participation option is also available for those who cannot attend in person.

Event Details

The event takes place on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at Rio Vista Park in Peoria, Arizona. The course uses the open, paved trails of the New River Trail System, starting and ending at the park. The trails are shared with the public and do not close for the event. The event is managed by StartLine Racing.

Participant Information

All participants receive a custom finisher's medal and a dri-fit tech t-shirt. Age group awards are given for the top three male and female finishers in the 10K and 5K distances. The event is chip-timed, with results and photos available online. A pre- and post-race "Runner's Brunch" with snacks and drinks is provided. The event is leashed pet friendly and welcomes wheelchairs, strollers, and wagons. Skateboards, roller blades, and motorized devices are not allowed on the course. There is no bag check facility. The event takes place rain or shine, with no refunds for weather.

Registration

Registration fees vary by distance and time of registration. Race day registration is available at a higher cost, payable by cash or credit card.
