Pi in the Sky - Phoenix, AZ

Pi in the Sky is a FAT ASS style trail event produced by GhostHead Productions with no entry fee and a limit of 50 participants. The group meets and finishes at the Hope Bible Church parking lot. The route is an out and back that goes across the 51 Freeway onto the Dreamy Draw Bikeway and continues through Phoenix Mountain Preserves, including a summit of Piestewa Peak. The organizer lists the total distance as approximately 8 to 9 miles.

The course will be partially marked at critical junctions and participants are given Garmin coordinates. Trails in the area include many small connector or "spider" trails that can make navigation confusing at times. Terrain is rocky and technically demanding in sections, with minimal shade along much of the route. In early June participants should expect warm to hot conditions.

Aid on course is minimal; a water fountain and restroom are available at the Dreamy Draw Trailhead. Participants are responsible for their own well being. Timing is handled manually rather than with automated timing systems. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
