Wagging Tails on the Trails : Fort Pierce

Wagging Tails on the Trails is the third annual trail race held at Pepper Park Riverside on Hutchinson Island in Fort Pierce, Florida. The event offers multiple options on a trail that follows the Indian River Lagoon through mangroves and coastal hammocks. The 5K is a flat, hard-packed loop; a 9K option has been added this year to support the local K9 unit.

The event is dog friendly. Dogs must be leashed at all times, be non-aggressive, and owners are asked to clean up after pets. Water bowls are supplied at the water station and around the expo area. All dogs that cross the finish line receive a treat and the top K9 finisher receives a special prize.

Distances:

  • 5K trail run/walk
  • 9K trail run
  • Kids Puppy Dash for ages 10 and under
  • Virtual 5K option

Registration for some options includes a t-shirt, finisher medal, chip-timed race bib, and finish-line treats for pets. A Puppy Dash for children includes a post-race cupcake, and a child's shirt can be purchased during registration. Awards follow the race with overall male and female winners for both distances and age-group awards for 5K and 9K. Packet pick-up is available the day before at Fleet Feet in Tradition. Event parking is available across the street at Pepper Park Beach and the Navy Seal Museum; riverside parking is limited. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
