Virginia Highlands 3 Day Trail Running Camp
The camp is a three-night, three-day trail running retreat held on the TRAIL:30 Firefly mountain property in Mouth of Wilson, VA (700 Troutdale Highway). The site offers showers, toilets, electricity, running water, a communal kitchen and refrigerator, and a pond for swimming. Cell phone service is very limited on the property.
Three organized group trail runs are scheduled, one each morning on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The planned routes are: Friday 12.5 miles with 1,800 feet of elevation gain; Saturday 10 miles with 1,600 feet of elevation gain; Sunday 10 miles with 1,900 feet of elevation gain. Group runs are optional. An interactive map and GPX of the routes will be sent in a participant handbook before the weekend.
Registration includes camping on the mountain property from Thursday night until Sunday morning. There are three tiny cabins on site; cabins are basic, have a queen mattress, no air conditioning but a fan and a Jackery box, and require participants to bring their own sheets, blankets and pillows. Cabin capacities and prices are listed for each unit, and each person sharing a cabin must register individually. A minimum occupancy applies to one cabin.
Food and personal transportation are not included. The program includes a unisex T-shirt, professional photos, and use of the property facilities. Dogs are not allowed. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
