The Urban Environmental Challenge 10k is a trail running event located in Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx. The event features a main 10k trail race and a free Kids Fun Run.

Course & Setting

The 10k is described as a rugged, technical trail race taking place on the trails of historic Van Cortlandt Park. The organizers call it the first true trail race within New York City's five boroughs. The starting point is at the Tortoise and Hare Statue at 251st Street and Broadway.

Registration & Logistics

Registration is open for the event, which will be held rain or shine. Pre-registration costs $35, with race-day registration available for $40 from 8:30 AM until 10:05 AM. Discounts are available for runners aged 14-18 and for veterans. Lifetime members of VCTC can request a discount code via email. The minimum age for the 10k is 14.

A portion of the race fees supports the Van Cortlandt Park Alliance for trail maintenance and youth programs. All registered participants receive a race souvenir.

Getting There

Public transportation options include taking the 1 Train to the 242nd Street terminal and walking 500 yards, or taking the Metro North Hudson Line to Marble Hill station.
