Event overview

The Gower Peninsula Ultra Challenge takes place on 18-19 July 2026 on the Gower Peninsula in South Wales. The basecamp is located in the grounds of Penrice Castle and includes weekend camping. The main route uses a figure-of-8 format that starts and finishes at Penrice basecamp. The course uses signed waymarking and GPS tracking via the event app. Timing is recorded at rest stops. Rest stops are provided about every ~12.5 km, with larger facilities about every ~25 km. Medical, paramedic, and welfare teams are present, and massage and podiatry services are available at rest stops. Participants receive a finisher medal, a T-shirt, and a finishers meal.

  • 100 km - figure of 8 route; ~2200 m climb; Penrice basecamp.
  • 75 km - figure of 8 route; ~1550 m climb; Penrice basecamp.
  • 50 km - west or east loop options; ~1200 m or ~1000 m climb; Penrice basecamp.
  • Marathon (42 km) - ~900 m elevation; Penrice basecamp.
  • 25 km - ~550 m elevation; Penrice basecamp.
  • 10 km - ~250 m climb; Penrice basecamp.

Additional options include a two-day 100 km format with an overnight stop at basecamp, a walker-focused Ultra March category, a faster Trailblazerz running category, and a Solo Challengers start option.
