Gower Peninsula Ultra Challenge

The event takes place on 18 and 19 July 2026 on the Gower Peninsula in South Wales, with a basecamp in the grounds of Penrice Castle. The organiser offers weekend camping, parking and transfer options, plus a solo start option and team entries.

Distances offered include:

  • 100 km figure of eight route through west and east loops, ~2200 m climb
  • 75 km figure of eight, ~1550 m climb
  • 50 km west loop, ~1200 m climb
  • 50 km east loop, ~1000 m climb
  • Marathon 42 km, ~900 m climb
  • 25 km, ~550 m climb
  • 10 km, ~250 m climb

Support on route includes covered marquee rest stops roughly every 12.5 km with larger stops about every 25 km. Catering provides snacks and meals, with options for dietary needs and lighter choices for runners. Medical, podiatry and massage teams operate at rest stops, and a control room monitors progress using timing scans at rest stops.

The route is fully signed and the participant app includes GPS tracking and route maps. Entry categories include an Ultra March category with target walking times and a new Trailblazerz competitive running category with adjusted target times. Experience the unique challenge of racing on the firm sands of Pendine Beach. Choose from five distances ranging from 5k to an ultra marathon on a course famous for land speed records.

Three coastal trail races of 32.5, 18.5 and 10 miles follow the Wales Coast Path along the Vale of Glamorgan, with waymarked routes, staffed checkpoints, and coach transport for the linear course finishing at Ogmore-by-Sea.

Trail races at Oxwich Bay on the Gower Peninsula include a self navigation half marathon plus marked 10 km and 5 km routes, with chip timing, finisher medals, water stations and checkpoints.

Experience the dramatic coastline and steep moorland of Exmoor National Park across five trail distances. Run past towering cliffs and through the Valley of Rocks on technical terrain starting from Lynton.
