Event Overview

The Gower Peninsula Ultra Challenge takes place on July 18–19, 2026 in South Wales. The event is based at the historic Penrice Castle grounds, where participants can camp.

Challenge Options

Participants can walk, jog, or run. Several distance options are available:

  • 100 km – A figure-of-eight route consisting of a 50 km western loop and a 50 km eastern loop. It can be completed continuously or over two days.
  • 75 km
  • 50 km – Available as separate western or eastern loops.
  • 42 km (Marathon)
  • 25 km
  • 10 km

There is a "Solo Challenger" start time option. For 2026, new competitive categories are introduced: the Ultra Trailblazerz® for faster runners and the Ultra March® for walkers aiming to complete 100 km in under 24 hours or 50 km in under 12 hours.

Event Support

The route is fully signed with markers and includes marquee rest stops approximately every 12.5 km, offering meals, snacks, and drinks. Medical, podiatry, and massage teams are present. A mobile app provides GPS tracking and route information. A finish-line celebration includes a medal, finisher's T-shirt, and a glass of fizz.

Registration

Fifth and final West Glamorgan XC League race at Amman Valley Trotting Club in Tairgwaith on 15 March 2026. A 5 mile cross country organised by Neath Harriers with free parking, a cafe, and no on the day entry.

Run entirely on the famous, firm sands of Pendine Beach. Choose from five distances, from a 5k to a 32.8-mile ultra, all on a simple out-and-back course. All finishers get a medal, with trophies for the category winners.

Three point to point trail races on 11 April 2026 along the Vale of Glamorgan coast, including a 32.5 miles ultra and 18.5 and 10 miles options. Routes follow the Wales Coast Path with marked navigation, checkpoints and event bus transport.
