Two Prairies Ultra : March 14, 2026

Two Prairies Ultra is a no-fee FAT ASS ultra event held at Pat's Island Trailhead in the Ocala National Forest, near Salt Springs and Fort McCoy, Florida. Participation is capped at 50 due to limited parking and the wilderness setting; carpooling is recommended.

The course follows sections of the Florida Trail and passes through Juniper and Hopkins Prairies in the Juniper Wilderness area. The route showcases local wildlife, rare plants, and historical features along the trail.

The full event uses two out-and-back segments:

  • 30K

Course layout: runners first go south 8.8 miles to Juniper Springs Recreation Area (17.6 miles roundtrip), return to the start, then run north 7.25 miles (14.5 miles roundtrip). The 30K route uses only the south half of the course.

Directions to the trailhead: from the intersection of SR 40 and SR 19, drive north 5.9 miles on SR 19, turn left onto Forest Road 46, then continue 2.2 miles on a dirt road to the trailhead on the right.

Registration closes March 7. Participants are asked to consider supporting the Florida Trail and the Florida Trail Association; a minimum suggested donation per participant is $25. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
