Two Islands Half Marathon

Two Islands Half Marathon

The Two Islands event is a friendly, scenic half marathon held in the Outer Hebrides. The race starts on the Isle of Berneray near the Gatliff Trust Hostel, crosses a causeway to North Uist, and finishes in Lochmaddy at the Lochmaddy Hotel, which sponsors the event and provides lunch at the finish.

The route is rural and gently undulating, described as less demanding than some island courses. Runners have sea views for virtually the whole way. Most of the course follows single track surfaced roads and experiences very little traffic. The distance and route have been officially measured by Scottish Athletics.

The event is organised by North Uist Amateur Athletics Club and is deliberately scheduled at the end of the season when most other island races have taken place. It has remained relatively small and exclusive because of its island location and local setting.

Entry periods and fees for the 2026 event are published for the edition on 29 August 2026. Entry fees for that year are listed as £13 for UKA members and £15 for non members. Additional administrative details, terms, and the cancellation and refund policy are available through the event organiser. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
