Two Islands Half Marathon
The Two Islands Half Marathon is a half marathon held on Saturday 29 August 2026 in an island location in the Outer Hebrides. The route starts on the Isle of Berneray near the Berneray Gatliff Trust Hostel, crosses a causeway to North Uist, and finishes in Lochmaddy at the Lochmaddy Hotel. The course is gently undulating and runs mostly on single-track surfaced rural roads with very little traffic. Runners have sea views for virtually the whole way. The route and distance have been officially measured by Scottish Athletics.
The event is long established and, according to the organiser, is timed for the end of the season when most other island races have taken place. It remains relatively small and exclusive because of its island location. Sponsors for the event include the Lochmaddy Hotel and the Hamersay Hotel; the Lochmaddy Hotel provides lunch at the finish.
