Tussey Mountainback takes place in and around Rothrock State Forest near Boalsburg, PA during a race weekend on October 23-24, with the main events held Saturday, October 24. The course follows mostly unpaved fire roads and is scheduled during peak foliage season.
Distances offered:
- 50 mile (individual and relay)

- Half marathon
The 50 mile and 50 km share the route for the first 19 miles. The 50 mile loop passes Whipple Dam State Park, Alan Seeger Natural Area, Penn-Roosevelt State Park, Colyer Lake, and Bear Meadows Natural Area. About the final 5 miles of the 50 mile are on pavement and downhill; all distances begin and end with 0.6 miles of pavement. Terrain includes uphill, level, and downhill segments, with shaded and open sections and several overlook vistas. Total elevation gain for the 50 mile is 5,485 ft.
Ultramarathon entrants have support vehicle and drop bag options. Stocked, staffed aid stations are available every 2.9 to 5.6 miles. Relay teams use aid stations as transition points, must declare and maintain a fixed runner rotation, and must provide one team vehicle to transport runners to transitions where batons are exchanged.
Categories are male, female, or non-binary, with masters eligibility for athletes over 40 on race day. Packet pickup is at the venue the day before, with specific rules for 50 mile and 50 km entrants; other participants must collect packets on Friday. Registration closes October 9 at 11:59 PM ET.
