Boal City Oktoberfest Trail Race
The Oktoberfest 5K Trail Race is an annual running event held at Boal City Brewing in Boalsburg, Pennsylvania. The event takes place during the autumn season, coinciding with local Oktoberfest celebrations and peak fall foliage. The course utilizes several natural areas and historic grounds, providing participants with a variety of terrain and scenery.
The following distances are available:
- 5 km Trail Run
- 0.3 Miles Mini Monster Trail Loop (for participants aged 12 and younger)
The 5 km course begins behind the brewery and follows the gravel driveway of the historic Boal Estate Mansion. Runners pass through meadows and beneath large oak and maple trees, continuing past the Columbus Chapel. The route transitions through recently cut farm fields before entering the Stan Yoder Preserve and Blue Spring Park. The terrain is characterized as smooth and flowy but includes several hills. The race is timed using both gun time for overall winners and chip time for age group categories.
Parking is restricted to the brewery grounds, as local street parking in the surrounding neighborhoods is not permitted. Participants aged 21 and older receive a beverage at the brewery following the race. An awards ceremony follows the competition to recognize top finishers in various age divisions, ranging from under 29 to 60 and over. There is also a category for costume awards.
